Mr Simon Monkhouse , as well being a First Class Surgeon, he was on time for appointments, has a most welcome sense of humour and immaculately dressed. After a nasty road accident to be treated in such a kind and sensitive manner certainly helped my healing process. Indeed, I felt privileged to be his patient. His advice regarding the subsequent removal of my gall bladder was absolutely correct and I cannot thank him enough. My recovery was perfect. Mr Monkhouse was friendly and professional at all times and is a credit to his profession. Sincerely Barbara Couchman

From my initial consultation I felt totally informed and relaxed about my procedure. The whole process was handled very professionally from start to finish, I felt I could contact Mr Monkhouse at any time with any worries or concerns I had after my procedure. I called him on New Years Eve (of all days) with a concern - he called me back within 30 minutes and totally reassured me. I Would highly recommend him Mrs J Buckland

I was operated just before Xmas 2015 from a complicated gallbladder removal. Mr. Monkhouse came to see me at hospital on the 25th. I was absolutely filled with confidence that I was well looked after. Thank you A constructive suggestion: A benign tumour (many turn malignant) or a "dormant" cancer could be removed (I understand that radiotherapy is getting very targeted) if preventative tests were available to detect their presence. The NHS offers a basic test but I don't think that it is enough. I would pay for additional tests, with the hospital specialists. Would it be possible to publish a list of tests.

After having glandular fever and ongoing abdominal pain, a very large splenetic cyst was found. I was referred to Mr Monkhouse for treatment. The cyst was drained but sadly returned to its size very quickly so Mr Monkhouse performed a laparoscopic splenectomy. Before my surgery he warned me that due to the size of the cyst and my enlarged spleen, there was a possibility he would have to do open surgery and a large incision across my stomach. Being only 19 this was a big worry for me so I was delighted when I woke up and found keyhole was successful. He went out of his way to make sure I was ok. He explained everything very well and in a friendly manner and the follow up care during my recovery has been superb. I would like to say a massive thank you to Simon for his ongoing care in getting me back to living a normal life. Charlotte Baldwin
